Menstrual Hygiene:

Menstruation is a natural phenomenon not just related to women, but directly linked to human society. It plays a vital role in the life-cycle of human beings and like the life-cycle, menstruation is a flow

To demonstrate this, i have used a female torso constructed out of ice, Caged down the ice body is a baby doll. As the ice melts away, the baby will be clearer to the viewers and will eventually be ‘born’. The ice torso was again placed in a traditional clay ‘atal’ (a kind of a tub) which is shaped into a lotus. Here lotus is again being used as a symbol of purity and of procreation. the melted ice is drip into the atal and mix with red pigment, thus transforming the water into symbolical blood. Emphasizing the need for cleanliness and proper hygiene, the red water is flowing through a transparent tube, out into a other traditional clay pot.

FUKUOKA ASIAN ART MUSEUM (artists residency 2011):

For this project in Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, I choose the visual elements of my surrounding / different cultures like traditional Stone-tap of Nepal, traditional Tengu-mask of Japan, elements of Rickshaw art of Bangladesh and Thanka art of Tibet etc.

In my video work I have tried to find out some visual similarities between two cultures, Japanese and Nepalese. So I presented Yamakasha festival of Fukuoka and some Nepalese festivals side by side in my video. Similarly I have triMy presence in my art work, as masks in different expression in installation and as performer in video, represents my existence in these surroundings.

“I exist because of my surrounding.”
